Each set of minutes are separated by a horiztonal line.1930 Regular Session Town Council October 06, 2015 The Regular Session of Town Council was called to order by Mayor Leigh Stoddart at 7:00pm with Councillors Rex Stoddard, Cecil Brannen, Sherry Atkinson, Trudy Quinlan and Irene Baker present. Councillor Russell Atkinson was absent. Additions to the Agenda There were no additions to the agenda. Approval of the Agenda: It was moved by Councillor Baker and seconded by Councillor Quinlan that the Agenda be approved as circulated. Motion carried. Approval of Previous Minutes: It was moved by Councillor Stoddard and seconded by Councillor S. Atkinson that the Minutes from the previous meeting be approved as circulated. Motion carried. APPOINTMENTS: a) Kim Goreham, acting VIC manager, was present to give statistics for the 2015 operating season for the Visitor Information Centre. Overall, there were seven hundred and thirty one (731) visitors to the VIC; two hundred and eighty eight (288) of them were first time visitors to Nova Scotia. b) Parnell Walker, Events Coordinator, was present to discuss her position with the Town of Clarks Harbour. MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES: REPORTS Streets, Sewers and Unsightly Premises: The Public Works Report presented to Council was read and discussed. Recreation: No recreation report was presented. 1931 Building Inspectors Report: The Building Inspectors Report for August and September was presented. There were no permits issued during the month of August, in September there was on building permit issued with a value of $20 000 and one demolition permit. Fire: There was no Fire report available. Police: There was no Police Report available. Mayor/Councillors: Councillor S. Atkinson reported on a Regional Library meeting she had attended. Councillor Stoddard requested a Property Recognition Plaque be sent to Warren and Wanda Amirault in recognition of the improvements to the property they purchased. Councillor S. Atkinson presented Council with a thank you card from the CSI New Horizons, thanking them for the use of the Legion for their fundraiser. CORRESPONDENCE The Shelburne County Housing Coalition invited Councillors and Mayor to a Shelburne County housing forum, to discuss and learn about housing in Shelburne County, it’s to be held Tuesday October 27 2015 at the Shelburne Community Centre/Fire Hall from 8:30am to 3:30pm. A request was received from the River Hills Golf and Country Club in the amount of $2500 to aid in upgrades required for the club house and grounds. It was moved by Councillor Brannen and seconded by Councillor Stoddard not to grant this request at this time as all grant requests have been considered for this fiscal year. Motion carried. 1932 NEW BUSINESS a) The Fisherman’s Memorial Monument requires sand blasting and repainting at a cost of $775.00. It was moved by Councillor Baker and seconded by Councillor S. Atkinson that this be carried out. Motion carried. b) Dinner tickets for the Shelburne County Business Awards ceremony, to be held on October 20 2015, are available for $40 each. It was moved by Councillor Brannen and seconded by Councillor Stoddard that two tickets are purchased for this event. Motion carried.
