Regular Session


Town Council


September 09, 2025


The Regular Session was called to order by Mayor Kenney at 6:57pm with Councillors Louann Link, Laurie Smith, Irene Baker and Max Kenney present.



ADDITIONS TO THE AGENDA:


  1. Donation for former Councillor Myrna


Being duly moved and seconded, Council approved a two hundred dollar ($200) donation to the Roselyn Nickerson Care Fund in memory of former Councillor Myrna Cox.

Motion carried unanimously.



APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA:


Being duly moved and seconded the agenda as well as the additions was approved as circulated.

Motion carried unanimously.



APPROVAL OF THE PREVIOUS MINUTES:


Being duly moved and seconded the minutes from the previous meeting was approved as circulated.

Motion carried unanimously.



APPOINTMENTS:


  1. Bellliveau Veinotte – Municipal Auditor – 2024/2025 Financial Statements


Jennifer Thomas, Municipal Auditor with Belleveau Veinotte was present to go over the 2024/2025 Final Financial Statements. The town had a operating surplus of two hundred, thirty-three thousand, nine hundred and twenty-eight dollars ($233,928).


Being duly moved and seconded, the Financial Statements were approved as presented and that the surplus be transferred to the Operating Special Reserve fund.

Motion carried unanimously.

MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES


  1. Community Hall Metal Roofing Quotes


Council was presented with a roofing quote from MacDonnell Small Jobs in the amount of fifty-four thousand, two hundred and seven dollars ($54,207) for a glossy finish and fifty-six thousand, seven hundred seventy-two thousand dollars ($56,772) for a textured finish. This quote is for funding purposes only.


REPORTS:


Streets, Sewers and Unsightly Premises:


The Public Works report was read and discussed.


The replacement of the current wastewater treatment facility is moving forward, CBCL contractors were on site in August for some test drilling around the current compound.

The boardwalk project is nearing completion.


Recreation:


The Pumpkin Weigh off will be held October 5th, 2025, commencing at 1pm.


Fisherman’s Memorial will be held on September 21, 2025, at the Town Hall, officiator to be determined.


Building Inspector Report:


Five permits were issued for the month of August, two residential and three non-residential for a approximate value of two hundred twenty-six thousand dollars ($226,000)


Mayor/Councillors:


Mayor and Councillors shared their activities and meetings attended since the last regular meeting of Council.


Council was informed that the fire alarm panel at the Seaside Heritage Hall required replacing as it had been damaged and was no longer working.

CORRESPONDENCE:


All correspondence was shared with Council, only that requiring a motion will be added to the agenda.



NEW BUSINESS:


  1. In Camera Session


Being duly moved and seconded, Council moved in camera at 8:15pm to discuss a delicate matter.


Being duly moved and seconded, Council moved out of in camera at 8:45pm.


Motions carried unanimously.
