TOWN OF CLARK’S HARBOUR

EQUITY & INCLUSION PLAN

This plan is our commitment to ensure that our town is a place of opportunity for all. We recognize that meaningful change takes time and collective effort and we are committed to building a community where everyone feels welcome, respected and valued. This is a living document that evolves with our community needs.

This Equity & Inclusion Plan outlines steps the Town will take to promote inclusion, address discrimination, and strengthen community trust.

OUR GOALS:

1. Increase Awareness and Understanding

• Provide equity and anti-racism training for Council and staff

• Promote respectful dialogue within our community

2. Support Inclusive Governance

• Review town policies and bylaws to remove barriers, in any

• Use plain language in public communications

• Consider fairness and inclusion in town policies and decisions

3. Strengthen Community Belonging

• Build stronger relationships with organizations that support underrepresented groups

• Host events that reflect community diversity

• Engage Town members to understand lived experience and any barriers they may face.

4. Ensure Safe and Respectful Municipal Spaces

• Establish a Code of Conduct for Town facilities and events.

• Provide a clear internal process for reporting discrimination or harassment

• Uphold accessibility standards in town buildings and services

5. Public Accountability and Reporting

• Provide annual updates to Council and the public through town Council meetings

• Review and update the Plan in 2028

OUR COMMUNITY

This Plan reflects our belief that everyone deserves to feel safe and respected in the Town of Clark’s Harbour. By working together – Council, staff and residents – we can strengthen trust, promote understanding, and ensure our town remains welcoming to all.

Equity and inclusion are ongoing commitments. We will continue listening, learning and improving as our community grows and evolves.
